Mixed martial arts returns to London Ontario this Saturday, as Provincial Fighting Championship holds its first event at the Western Fair Agriplex building. This fight card is loaded with local talent, and Kimurawear is very proud to support and sponsor 4 of the fighters on the card.
Canadian bantamweight and Kimurawear sponsored athlete Josh Hill, was one of 16 bantamweights that were flown down to Las Vegas for a chance to make it onto The Ultimate Fighter television show. It has been a long time coming for 26 year old from Hamilton ON.
Canada may have a second UFC champion in the near future. Nova Scotia born, TJ Grant earned his spot as the number contender in the lightweight division by knocking out Gray Maynard in the first round on Saturday night at UFC 160.
Gray Maynard was TJs biggest named opponent to date. The former 2 time lightweight challenger had beaten many of the UFCs top lightweights and only tasted defeat once in his career.
The heavyweight title is up for grabs this Saturday May 25th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Lav Vegas, Nevada. Challenger Antonio Silva steps up to take on the champ Cain Velasquez. This two have already looked horns once, at UFC 146. In that bout Cain completely dominated Silva with viscous ground and pound and force the stoppage in the first round. Since then Cain has reclaimed his title and Antonio upset the heavily favored Alistair Overreem.
Anthony Birchak is the number 1 bantamweight for the Maximum Fighting Championship. He doesn't have a title to prove it yet, but sounds like he will have that opportunity very soon.
Anthony comes form a strong wrestling background in both freestyle and greco-roman. He was able to win the greco roman championship 4 consecutive times as well the freestyle state championship 3 consecutive times while in high school.
MFC 37 True Grit, goes down tomorrow night at he shaw conference Centre in Edmonton Alberta. Unfortunately the main event between surging Canadian heavyweight Smealinho Rama, and American Chris Barnett has been cancelled, but Kimruawear sponsored fighter Anthony Birchak and his opponent have stepped up to highlight the stacked card. Also on the card are Kimurawear athletes Jason Zentgrag and Muaki Maromo.
UFC 155 goes down this Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas, Nevada. The featherweight world title is up for grabs. Challenger Frankie Edgar drops down a weight class to take on Champion Jose Aldo. Another big match up on the card include the co-main event in which Rashad Evans faces Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Bellator returns for its eighth season, and this one promises to be the biggest and the best. How so? Well for starters this will be the first event broadcast on Spike Tv. Spike Tv was the home of the UFC for quite and some time, and will give Bellator a chance to reach a much broader audience. Also there have been quite a few big signings that are going to making there Bellator debuts, such as Muhammed Lawal, and Renato Sobral.
Strikeforce held its final event this past Saturday January the 12th. The event was bitter sweet. It was sweet to see some of Strikeforces top athletes compete and showcase there skills, in front of a boisterous crowd. It was sweet to see a new champion crowned in the welterweight division, but it was also bitter in know that there will never be another Strikeforce event ever.

The main event puts UFC export and Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt vs Belgian fighter Tarec Saffiedine.
Shane "Shaolin" Campbell has been fighting since he was eighteen years old. Since that time he has proven to be a top level competitor in both muay thai and MMA. Could he be the next big thing in the lightweight division in both the Canadian and International Fight scene. He just won the AFC lightweight title and recently got from brazil training with Jose Also! Things are on the up and up.
For the first time in Ontario MMA history, a Canadian promotion is live on national television. The Score fighting series is holding its first live to air event on saturday August 25th at the Hamilton Palace Theatre, in Hamilton Ontario. This is the fifth event that the score has put on but the first to air live on the Score channel. The events main card is live on the Score starting at 9pm, while the undercard can be viewed live at scorefighting.com starting at 6:30pm.
This past Friday at Bellator 69 in New Orleans, Louisiana, number two ranked female 115 pound fighter Jessica Aguilar faced off against number one ranked Megumi Fuji. The highly anticipated fight didn't disappoint as both women showed a fighters heart and put on a three round MMA clinic for those watching.
The first round is a back and forth afar, with both women trying to find there range.
On March 31st, Kimurawear was in Coconut Creek Florida to take in some of Thiago Silva's training, as he prepares for his comeback fight on April 14th. Thiago Silva has been out of action for over a year and is looking to make a big impact upon his return during the UFC's first foray into Sweden. His opponent will be rising swedish star Alexander Gustafsson. This fight will see ether Thiago return to a top contender or continuation of Gustafsson's rise up the ranks.
